AN OUTLINE OF BOB'S LIFE


Bob's parents fall in love sharing a cab on a rainy day in post war New York

Parents

Bob is born 03 JAN 46 in NYC at start of Baby Boom

Attended parochial school and played on the sidewalks of New York

Younger brother, James R. Kiger, joins family

Family moved to Southern CA just as Disneyland opened

Grew up playing ball with cousin, Jim Palmer (3X Cy Young award winner)

Head yell leader @ St. Paul & Sierra High Schools

Enlisted in USAF at 17 and trained as nuclear weapons technician

Injured in line of duty and cross trained into photography

Married the day after 21st birthday to Bobi

Fathered a daughter, Randi Lynn Kiger

Studied photography at Rochester Institute of Technology

Edited college magazine, The RIT Reporter

Graduated Cum Laude in 1970 - B.S. in Professional Photography

Returned with family to California and began career in film production

Authored the word "videography" into the lexicon in 1972

& then

Fathered a son, Robert Creighton Kiger - Screen name Robby Kiger

Divorced Bobi (typical of so many Baby Boomer marriages)

Produced & directed TV for 12 years as The Videography Company

Had a short lived marriage to a nurse named Denise

Moved to Maui in 1982 to build a simpler life renting bicycles

Saw HALEAKALA & dreamed up "Gravity Assisted Bicycling"

Became "Cruiser Bob" and forged Maui's legendary downhill bicycle industry

Uncovered The Old Mill - Haiku and the curse of the vine!

Endured lawsuits, imitation, bureaucratic folly, & father's death in the 80's

Traveled around the world with bicycle in 1989 & met Lynnde, in Holland

Married Lynnde Richter on Maui in 1990

Lynnde dies of ovarian cancer two years after our marriage

2nd global bicycling trip in an attempt to heal 

Gave up Maui businesses and most possessions in 1996

Returned to California to produce legacy projects
